High Peace Council Holds Its General Assembly Meeting

The High Peace Council of Afghanistan held its general assembly meeting to officially introduce Dr. Mohammad Akram Khaplawak as the CEO of the Executive img kabul majme omumi hamal 15 1Secretariat for the Peace and Reintegration Process. In addition to all members of the HPC, H.E Mohammad Haneef Atmar, National Security Advisor also attended this important event. It is worth mentioning that Dr. Khapalawak, the special representative of the president of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has recently been assigned to lead the peace and reintegration process.
After the recitation of a few verses of the Holy Quran, Haji Din Mohammad Deputy Chairman of the High Peace council in his opening remarks talked about the activities and new developments that HPC has focused on for the last few months. He also praised the appointment of Dr. Khapalwak as an appropriate step at this point and thanked the leadership of the National Unity government for the importance they attach to the peace process in the country.
Then, H.E Mohammad Haneef Atmar while praying for the soul of late HPC chairman Pir Sayed Ahmad Gailani to rest in peace, pointed out that peace and reconciliation is one of the top priorities of the government and people of Afghanistan.  He also talked about the recent challenges in terms of building and promoting a comprehensive regional img kabul majme omumi hamal 15 2consensus that have become a source of concerns for Afghanistan. At the same time, he assured HPC members that the Afghan government has been able to some extent overcome all the challenges. Moreover, he admired the HPC and its secretariat for their efforts towards a stable and peaceful Afghanistan and added that successful conclusion of negotiations with Hezb-i-Islami is one of the important achievements for the government and people of Afghanistan.  
Subsequently, Mawlawi Attaurahman Saleem, Deputy Chairman of the High Peace council talked in a great detail about the activities, efforts and achievements of the HPC for the last one year and stated that the appointment of Dr. Khapalwak is a positive step towards peace and stability in the country.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Mohammad Akram Khapalwak appreciated the leadership of the National Unity Government for trusting him to lead the peace and reintegration process and promised to make his utmost efforts for the implementation of this national and Islamic img kabul majme omumi hamal 15 3obligation without any hesitation. He also talked about his future plans for reaching a durable, inclusive and just peace through political negotiations in a close coordination with other government entities and with the support from the leadership of the National Unity Government.
The meeting ended with prayers recited by Mawlawi Abdul Khabir Ochqoon, deputy chairman of the High peace Council.
