Opening Ceremony of the Joint Executive Commission for implementation of the Peace Agreement between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Hezb-i-Islami

The Joint Executive Commission (JEC) for implementation of the Peace Agreement between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Hezb-i-Islami held its Opening Ceremony led by HE Pir Said Ahmad Gailani, chairman of High Peace Council, at the Presidential Char Chainar Palace on 6 November, 2016.
img kabul hezbeislami agree commission aqrab 16The meeting was opened by Mohammad Akram Khupalwak, Advisor to the President in political affiars and chairman of the mentioned commission, where the chairman of High Peace Council, the first deputy to the CEO, National Security Advisor, some cabinet members, members of the JEC, the delegats of Hezb-i-Islami, deputies and some members of High Peace Council and the deputy of the secritariate of High Peace Council were present.
HE Pir Sayed Ahmad Gailani, Chairman of High Peace Council, welcomed the participants and delivered the opening remarks. He said, after signing of the Peace Agreement between the Islamic republic of Afghanistan and Hezb-i-Islami, the JEC, based on presidential decree, has been established in order to implement the agreement. This commission officially started his work and will try its best to implement all articles of the agreement properly.
HE Gailani added: The peace agreement between the Islamic republic of Afghanistan and Hezb-i-Islami was a historical step and all those entities who have struggled for the success of this Afghan led negotiation or those who have held meetings across the country to support this process should be praised and appreciated. As well, he expressed gratitude to the President of Afghanistan for assigning the joint executive commission for the implementation of this agreement.
img kabul hezbeislami agree commission aqrab 16 2Later, head of Hezb-i-Islami delegation in the joint executive commission, Mr. Qazi Mohammad Hakim Hakim in his speech quoted that Hezb-i-Islami has full commitment to the peace agreement and will not allow anyone to create hurdle before the implementation of the agreement. He called this agreement the best and effective result of the Afghan led negotiation and asked other armed oppositions to follow the same way.
After that, Mr. Hanif Atmar, national security advisor of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, conveyed the best regards and gratitude of HE Mohammad Asharf Ghani, the president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, to the participants during his speech. He said that the president of Afghanistan once again congratulated the chairman of High Peace Council, the delegation of Hezb-i-Islami, members of the government and people of Afghanistan for this achievement.
The national security advisor thanked the Hezb-i-Islami leadership for upright intention made the signing of the agreement possible and this is the first time in the history of the country to announce seize fire which is the first step of this agreement. After the announcement of the seize fire, situation has been changed in the country. As well, he thanked the chairman and members of the High Peace Council for their efforts this big aim. He added: the government has signed the agreement with full commitments; peace is the basic demand of the people of Afghanistan and Hezb-i-Islami ought to faithfully assist in the implementation of this agreement as they did before.
img kabul hezbeislami agree commission aqrab 16 2It is worth mentioning that the joint executive commission was established few days ago based on the special decree of the HE President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. In this commission, Mr. Akram Khapulwak as head and Mr. Faizullah Zaki and Mr. Mohammad Masood Andrabai as members of the delegation of the government; Qazi Mohammad Hakim Hakim as head and Mr. Dr. Ghirat Bahair and Mr. Mohammad Amin Karim as members of the delegation from Hezb-i-Islami and Mr. Haji Azizullah Din Mohammad, Mr. Maulvi Ata-u-Rahman Salim, Dr. Habiba Surabi, Mr. Abdul Khabir Auchqoon and Mr. Farhadullah Farhad were appointed as members from High Peace Council.
